I am interested in black and white, physical and spiritual, form and counter form. Graphic design inherits these dualities at the micro level—begining with the letter—where letters push and pull light between their stroke and counterforms. And at the macro level, graphic design makes use of color, shape, and symbol to communicate abstract thoughts. In physical and virtual spaces, design changes perception, experiences, and memories.
As a practicing artist and graphic designer, the objects I create are both physical and virtual, existing in print and on screen. While my professional studio practice is focused on website design, development and consultation, my artwork and research highlight the process of creation. Through constructed narratives, the printed image, typographic design, and iterative creative programming, my work communicates the versatility of process with varying mediums, both in theory and in practice.
